Whether uphill or downhill: With the new Romy, Schwalbe introduces a model that makes choosing the right MTB tire especially easy. As a versatile all-rounder, the Romy is perfect for trail and all-mountain riding.

For the Sea Otter Festival (April 16–19, 2026) in Monterey, California, Schwalbe is implementing some important changes. The MTB portfolio has been purposefully streamlined, thus reducing the MTB range by 25%.

The profile.

Aggressive shoulder knobs provide more grip in corners and maximum control in every situation. The closely spaced center tread with shallower tread depth gives the tire good rolling performance and high durability. The result is a balanced overall profile that optimally combines control and versatility. The Romy is lighter than many enduro tires, yet enormously robust and durable. It is suitable for use on both the front and rear wheel.

Which version is the right one depends on the intended use:

TRAIL.

For classic trails, the TRAIL version is the best choice. It impresses with good grip and reliable puncture protection at an excellent price-performance ratio. A unique selling proposition in the market!

GRAVITY PRO.

For bikes that are more gravity-oriented, often ridden downhill, and require a lot of stability, the GRAVITY PRO ROMY is recommended.

TRAIL PRO.

Compared to the TRAIL version, TRAIL PRO offers even greater puncture protection at a lower weight. TRAIL PRO is also equipped with the proven Schwalbe APEX. This additional fabric-reinforced protection insert improves stability and significantly increases puncture resistance – without added weight.

RACE PRO.

The Romy in the RACE-PRO version is particularly well-suited for the rear wheel on an enduro bike when the focus is on even lower weight and the best rolling characteristics.

Various versions.

Romy is the first tire Schwalbe is offering in a 2.4-inch radial version, after previously introducing the Albert and Shredda tires in 2.5 and 2.6 inches. This gives mountain bikers a choice between two carcass constructions for the Romy:

RADIAL.

Flexible casing with a larger contact surface for more grip, safety, and damping. Ideal for the most demanding routes.

DIAGONAL.

Flexible frame construction with a robust build for direct handling and high stability. Ideal for sporty and versatile use.

Aerothan is a material that completely redefines the bicycle inner tube: extremely light, highly puncture-resistant and designed for minimum rolling resistance.

The revolutionary Schwalbe tube made of Aerothan achieves unprecedented top values for elasticity, weight and puncture resistance. The Aerothan inner tube is around 40% lighter than a comparable Schwalbe Extralight tube. Thanks to the newly developed material, sudden air loss is prevented. In addition, rolling resistance is minimized and ensures maximum riding dynamics. Thanks to its extreme heat resistance, the inner tube can also be used on bicycles with rim brakes. Important for off-road use: even at low air pressures, the riding behavior is still absolutely stable.

AEROTHANE TUBE RACE.
When it comes to road cycling with a tube, the Aerothan Tube Race is the first choice. It impresses with its low rolling resistance and dynamic, smooth riding dynamics. 

Compared to butyl tubes, a weight saving of 100 grams or more can be achieved for the entire bike. You can rely on the Aerothan Tube Race not only for excellent puncture protection, but also when riding downhill: it remains absolutely heat-resistant even after several emergency stops in quick succession with rim brakes.

The Aerothan Tube Allround is the extremely light and absolutely reliable high-end tube for city and touring. Compared to Schwalbe standard tubes, it makes the bike around 180 grams lighter - together with the low rolling resistance, a guarantee for much more riding fun.

You can rely on its puncture protection even on longer rides in the countryside. Even if you forget to re-inflate, the Aerothan Tube Allround won't let you down: it retains its shape even at low air pressure and keeps the bike safely on track.

Aerothan tubes consist of 100% (including valve) made of thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) and are therefore fully recyclable. Work is currently underway to recycle the used tubes and process them into new tubes.
